Don the HandyDuck Project:  Concrete Footer

The customer called and tried to explain that his window had a recess under it that had no footer.  The builder had placed a steel plate to support the brick beneath the window, but now that plate was rusting out and cracks were forming between the bricks.  He wanted to have a new concrete footer poured beneath the window.

When you looked at it from the street all seemed just fine … the brick seemed to be in place, no obvious cracks were visible.

It was only when you got close enough to look underneath the support plate, could you see the damage.

And so it begins …

It was necessary to dig beneath the wall to get to the base of the footers already there, lay out the forms, and pour the new concrete.  When all was said and done, though, the effect was more than satisfactory for the customer.
