Don the HandyDuck Project:  Pergola

The customer’s front porch and patio faced due west, getting roasted every afternoon.  The request was to construct a pergola, slatted wood cover, to provide shade for the afternoon, and early evening times.

Several conversations helped us settle on a straightforward design, attaching to the house on two lengths, and securing a vertical post at the outermost corner.  Slats would be angled towards the house, with the whole construction following the roof-line as much as possible.

With the frame and post in place, it was time to move on to installing the slats.

Finally, a coat of paint, and a stained glass hanger gave it the homey, inviting touch.
